Third Cinema

International Film Collective

Third Cinema is a chain of movie theaters and a streaming service that encourages Americans to explore new perspectives through exclusively showing foreign films.

Scope:

Branding

Brand Identity

Naming

Logo

Concept

Advertising

Problem:

Foreign films rarely get a wide release in American movie theaters, and if they do they are often shrouded by Blockbuster movies in the box office. The average American audience is less likely to watch foreign films because they’re not being readily exposed to these movies unless they are actively seeking them out.

Insights:

  1. There are no exclusively foreign film theaters currently in the US.

  2. American audiences would benefit from seeing different cultures around the world and perspectives other than our own.

  3. Watching foreign media creates open-mindedness and decreases stereotypes of other countries / cultures.

Strategy:

To create a chain of movie theaters and a streaming service that encourages Americans to explore new perspectives through exclusively showing foreign films.
